What is the first album/single that you ever bought?
I bought 3 albums in one purchase… Kings of Leon – Youth And Young Manhood, The Hives – Your New Favourite Band and The White Stripes – White Blood Cells
What is your earliest musical memory?
Seeing the video for Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen on tele. The image of their faces lit against the black background stuck with me.
Is there a particular song/band/singer that made you want to be a musician?
Hearing The Strokes – Last Night made me want to be a musician. Hearing that song for the first time literally changed my life.
Is there a song/band that was introduced to you by someone else?
My best mate turned me onto The Smiths and The Stone Roses in college. I hated both of them at first but soon came around.
The band/musician that you grew up listening to?
The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys soundtracked my teens and 20’s.
What song do you wish you had written and why?
I wish I had written Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers because it is beautiful.
What song transports you back in time and why?
Ironic by Alanis Morissette transports me back in time to that summer it was released. I remember listening to a tape of her album Jagged Little Pill on a Walkman in the back of the car as a kid.
What song makes you dance when you hear it?
When Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division comes on in the club, I am straight out onto the dance floor.
What song makes you sad when you hear it?
Stan by Eminem makes me sad when I hear it… tragic ending!
What was the first gig you went to?
I went to Oxegen festival in 2003. I think it was called Witness back then. The weather was amazing and so were the Sugababes.
What was the first song that you ever performed?
The first song that I ever performed was a song I wrote called I Love You But You’re Boring. I sat on a stool on-stage in McHughs venue in Drogheda and played it on an acoustic guitar to my family and friends.
