Sean from Stolen City on the soundtrack to his life

What was the first album/single that you ever bought?

The first album that I ever bought was a Gorillaz Album, I had heard one of their songs on the radio and it was just so different that I needed to hear more.

What is your earliest musical memory?

My earliest musical memory is probably singing in the choir in school.

The choir was something that I went into just to get some extra marks in my exams for music but it ended up being my favorite thing to do in school and gave me the confidence to continue singing and to make a career from it.

Is there a particular song/band/singer that made you want to be a musician?

I was scrolling through YouTube one day watching a channel called The Mahogany Sessions and I was just watching every video that came on and Gavin James came on singing a song called “Remember Me”, Instantly I was mesmerized and I started watching other videos of him playing live and I thought to myself “That’s what I want to do for the rest of my life” so i picked up a guitar and haven’t looked back since

Is there a song/band that you love that was introduced to you by someone else?

Yes, I had never heard of the 1975 until I met David in College and we hit it off instantly sharing our favorite bands and artists with each other, he convinced me to listen to The 1975 and since then I’ve loved their music.

Is there a song whose lyrics resonate with you and why so?

There’s A song by an artist named Foy Vance called Burden and its about taking the weight off someone who’s struggling in one way or another and for me it reminds me of a relationship I have and trying to comfort that person and let them escape the way they are feeling.

The band/musician that you grew up listening to?

I grew up listening to loads of Irish Folk and Trad Music because that’s what my Dad always had playing, but when I started getting my own tastes I listened to bands like The Coronas, Mumford & Sons and Kings of Leon.

What song do you wish that you had written and why?

The Lakes of Pontchartrain, because I believe it’s one of the best written songs of all time and it’s one of my all time favorites.

What song transports you back in time and why?

She’s So Lovely by Scouting For Girls it takes me back to when I was younger hanging out with my friends playing tunes.

Which song makes you dance when you hear it?

Ahh that ones very easy,  Michael Jackson “Beat It”. You can`t not try and do the moonwalk to that song.

Which song makes you sad when you hear it?

Foy Vance – Burden

What was the first gig you went to?

I went to see Busted in The Point at the time, Now the 3 Arena.

What was the first song that you ever performed?

I performed a song called “Tuesday’s Gone” by Lynyrd Skynyrd at my school graduation, this was my first time performing on my own.
