What is your earliest musical memory?

 

 

Ella – Turning my back on the audience for my first solo performance whike wearing a big princess dress.

 

 

Bríd – Learning my scales on piano with my sister.

 

 

 

Do you have a favourite song that was featured in a film or tv show?

 

 

Bríd – ‘Stay alive’ by Jose Gonzales features in The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty. Beautiful song 🙂

 

 

Ella – ‘Suddenly I see’ KT Tunstall was featured in The Devil Wears Prada.

 

 

 

Is there a song that instantly reminds you of a particular person?

 

 

Bríd – Ooh there are so many but I’d have to say a song mine called ‘Dorian’ which I wrote on mother’s day. My mam loves when I play it so I associate it with her.

 

 

Ella – most Andrews Sisters songs remind me of dancing with my granny.

 

 

 

Is there a song whose lyrics resonate with you and why so?

 

 

Bríd – ‘As the River Flows’ by Walis Bird. Its about the current refugee crisis and its very relevant, powerful and moving.

 

 

Ella – ‘Bad bad news’ by Leon Bridges. ‘They tell me I was born to lose but I made a good thing out of bad bad news’ is my favourite line.

 

 

 

The band/musician that you grew up listening to?

 

 

Bríd – The Killers would be blaring on every road trip. Hot Fuss is one of my all time favourite albums.

 

 

Ella – Queen every morning when I was getting ready for school.

 

 

 

What song do you wish that you had written and why?

 

 

Bríd – ‘Work Song’ by Hozier.

 

 

Ella – ‘River’ by Leon Bridges.

 

 

 

What song transports you back in time and why?

 

 

Bríd – ‘I took a pill in Ibiza’ reminds me of when I was living by Bondi Beach. It was number one at the time.

 

 

Ella – ‘Highway to Hell’ reminds me of my lifts to school 😀

 

 

 

Which song makes you sad when you hear it?

 

 

Bríd – ‘For You’ by Gavin James.

 

 

Ella – ‘Baby’ by Justin Beiber breaks my heart.

 

 

 

Which song makes you happy when you hear it?

 

 

Bríd – ‘Dream Catch Me’ by Neuton Faulkner makes me feel really optimistic.

 

 

Ella – ‘Simmer’ by Mahalia.

 

 

 

What was the first gig you went to?

 

 

Bríd – Original Rude Boys in Kytlers Inn in Kilkenny.

 

 

Ella – Alexandra Burke.

 

 

 

What was the first song that you ever performed?

 

 

Bríd – ‘Oft in the Stilly Night’ was my audition song for the Thomas Moore competition. Practicing in class was the first time I performed in front of strangers.

 

 

Ella – ‘Somewhere over the rainbow’ in school.

 

 

 

What was the first album/single that you bought?

 

 

Bríd – Hot Fuss by The Killers.

 

 

Ella – Drastic Fantastic by KT Tunstall.

 

 

 

Is there a song that you always listen to whilst travelling in the car or on the bus/train?

 

 

Bríd – Zephyr Song by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

 

 

Ella – Ridin’ by Chamillionaire.

 

 

 

Is there a particular song/band/singer that made you want to be a musician?

 

 

Bríd – Hudson Taylor. I learned all their songs on guitar and it made me really improve my skills and get into songwriting.

 

 

Ella – KT Tunstall with her shiney silver guitar inspired me to become a musician as a child.
